London: How to get to London from London City Airport

This is the most centrally located of all the airports, being only 6 miles from central London, making it a breeze to get to. It is rather small and caters mostly for business travelers. Its destinations are mostly short haul in Europe, as well as New York. This airport also has great connections across the UK. Just 3.6 million passengers use the airport yearly, and it is the least busy of London’s airports. 

The airport has had an expansion approved to be finished by 2019.Due to the short runway length and its location, the airplanes used here are all relatively small – the largest takes just 132 passengers.

Public Transport from London City Airport to London

DLR from London City Airport to London

Transport for London operates the DLR, which is integrated with the Underground system. Bank Station to London City Airport is only 22 minutes on the DLR with fantastic views of East London along the way. Oyster Card and contactless card fares are £3.30 during peak times, and £2.80 off-peak. The cash fare is £4.90.

Driving from London City Airport to Central London 

We do not recommend driving to London City Airport and around London in general. Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz operate rental locations at the airport. The driving time will take between 35 minutes and 1 hour depending on where you are going to in central London.

Taxi prices are metered from London City Airport to central London. 

How much does it cost in a taxi or uber from from London City Airport to London?
Expect to pay about £35 each way between the airport and Covent Garden, £40 to Piccadilly and £50 to Bayswater. Uber prices average £20 to £30 from most places in central London. It’s been about six weeks since the end of my Disney World International College Program contract and I thought I’d write a retrospective piece summing up my experience. I’m going to very quickly get those of you who didn’t read my blog up to speed. London: Things to do and Events in February Chinese New Year Image: Paul (Flickr) 18th February 2018 Although Chinese New Year itself is on the 8th February in 2016, the celebrations will be held on the subsequent weekend.  You can celebrate the start of the Year of the Monkey all around the West End with events held on Trafalgar Square and Chinatown from 10:00 to 18:00. London’s Chinese New Year celebrations are the largest outside Asia, with parades, performances and fireworks.  At 10:00 a large lion parade makes its way from Trafalgar Square to Chinatown; from 12:00 onwards stage performances are held; and at 17:20 the grand finale begins as dancers and acrobats take to the stage, and pyrotechnics illuminate Nelson’s Column.
