The National Gallery is one of our favourite museums in London and is free admission to all. It houses some priceless works of art including notably Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”, Monet’s “Water Lilies” and Seurat’s “Bathers at Asnières” amongst many others. The paintings on offer cover several centuries and the building’s interior architecture is worth visiting for alone.

The paid-for audio guides are thoroughly recommended at £4 per adult and £3.50 for concessions. Several different audio tours are available. The National Gallery website also has suggested walking tours that you can print out or follow along with you on a smartphone or tablet.

The National Gallery also has a paid-for ‘Sainsbury Wing’, which features temporary exhibitions and collections.

The gallery is closed 1st January and 24th to 26th December.
