London: Emirates Air Line Cable Car

The Emirates Air Line has often been seen as more of a vanity project than a form of transportation. It is a cable car system in East London with views of the surrounding area, as well as a link between North Greenwich (for the O2 Arena) and Royal Victoria station on the DLR. It is a unique way to see London but we wouldn’t make a special trip for it. The Air Line is subject to weather conditions.

Crossings take 5 minutes during the rush hour peak of 7:00 to 9:00, 10 minutes from 9:00 to 19:00, and Night Flights are 12 to 13 minutes after 19:00. Cabins arrive every 15 to 30 seconds with room for 10 people.

When does the Emirates Air Line operate?
The Air Line begins operation at 07:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00 on Saturday and 09:00 on Sunday. Closing times are 21:00 daily, except Friday and Saturday when it closes at 23:00. During Summer (April to September) closing times may be extended.

How much is a journey on the Emirates Air Line?
Fares are £4.50 for a single journey if paid by cash, and £3.50 if paid using an Oyster Card with Pay as You Go credit, or contactless. Return fares are double the single fare. Child fares are half price. Pay as You Go fares do not count towards the Oyster daily cap.

For a more serene return journey, the Discovery Experience includes in-flight audio and video, a souvenir guide and entrance to the nearby Emirates Aviation Experience. The Discovery Experience is priced at £10.70 for adults (cash) or £8.40 (Oyster and contactless); child prices are £6.20 and £5.00 respectively.

Night Flights (after 19:00) with on-board music and video are the same price as a standard daytime ticket.
