London: Top 10 Must-Do Attractions

London: Top 10 Must-Do Attractions

London has hundreds of different things you can do and see, but it is likely you will only have a limited amount of time to visit the city. This section allows you to take a trip through a wide selection of London’s attractions.

As will become apparent, there are a wealth of things to do, including many with no admission charge.

To ease your planning, each attraction has a short description, as well as the nearest public transport links, the entry price (if applicable) and opening hours. In the chapters that follow, we also include more detailed coverage of all these attractions.

Admission prices stated are ‘on-the-door’ rates, and cheaper tickets can be obtained by booking in advance online, or from other sources.

Museums and galleries that are listed as providing free admission are completely free of charge, without the need to obtain a ticket. However, a donation on the way out, or a small purchase from the gift shop of one of these locations is appreciated.

Remember that popular locations may have long waits to get in during busier periods of the year.

Many attractions have variable opening times depending on the day of the week, the month of the year, and whether it is term time or school holidays. To avoid disappointment, we recommend you check the opening times and dates with each attraction prior to your visit.

Click on each of the attractions below to learn more:

1. Tower of London
2. Houses of Parliament and Big Ben
3. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens
4. Natural History Museum
5. Science Museum
6. London Eye
7. Trafalgar Square and The National Gallery
8. The British Museum
9. West End - Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square
10. Buckingham Palace

There are of course hundreds, if not thousands, more attractions for you to experience and you will find details of these, as well as restaurant recommendations and accommodation recommendations in our neighbourhood guides section.
